  • What is the right therapy for me?
It is really important to find the right approach that suits you. In the first session we will assess your problem and then explain what we think would be the best approach, based on the current scientific evidence base. It is important to be open and honest with your therapist during sessions to reflect upon whether the approach is working for you. If you feel you would prefer something different then we are happy to refer you to a more suitable service, where possible.
  • How long are sessions?
Assessment and treatment sessions are between 50-60 minutes in duration. Enhanced assessment sessions range between 80-90 minutes.
  • How many sessions are needed?
Session numbers vary greatly depending on your specific needs. It is recommended that you book in for between 3-5 sessions at which point we can review progress and decide on a further session number to either end at or to review again.
  • Is the therapy confidential?
Everything discussed in session, and all recorded information (including any video/audio files, and written notes) is confidential and may not be revealed to anyone without your written permission. Exceptions to this only occur if information is requested in a legal capacity or if we believe there is an imminent risk to yourself or other people.
  • Does my psychologist receive clinical supervision?
It is a requirement that all HCPC and BABCP accredited Clinical Psychologists and CBT Therapists receive clinical supervision to assist in learning, development, and further analysis of cases. This may mean that your case is discussed in clinical supervision, with identifiable information anonymised to maintain confidentiality.
  • How much do sessions cost and how can I pay?
Telephone and face-to-face sessions are charged at £90 per hour for assessment & treatment sessions. Enhanced assessments are also available for £120 and will include a full report. Additional reports/session notes can be provided for an additional charge. Payments should be made following the end of each session either by cash or BACS payment. Additionally, Choose Psychology is registered with *Aetna Global Benefits*, *Aviva*, *AXA Health*, *Healix*, *Vitality Health*, and *WPA*. Please check with your insurer as you may be required to pay an excess fee.
  • What if I need to cancel a session; will I have to pay?
Due to service costs 48hrs notice is required to cancel a pre-arranged appointment, if notice is given less than 48hrs full payment is required.
